Recently, we were thrilled and honoured to meet Myrna Silverberg and give her and her family a tour of Talmud Torah School. As you may know, Myrna and Don are the generous sponsors of our lunchroom which is starting construction July 5th. Myrna and Don live in Israel, and Myrna and some of her family members came to Canada recently to do some visiting. Don encouraged Myrna to visit us at TT, see the school and hear and see the plans for the lunchroom. Myrna learned that the lunchroom is being renovated out of the current multi-purpose room and the music room next door. As we entered the music room, we encountered one of our grade 3 students practicing his recorder for the upcoming recorder recital. Myrna started up a conversation with Yahori, asked him to play for him, and then chatted a bit. Yahori told Myrna that he has four older siblings and they all attended and graduated from Talmud Torah School. The conversation was short but very sweet! Myrna shared with us some thoughts about her visit, and we wanted to share them with you here.
“We are very excited about the new lunch room! This bright colourful room will be such a valuable addition to the TT. Our oldest son Monte set up a zoom meeting a few months ago with His TT class of 1976. One of the most unforgettable experiences that they all remembered with warmth and laughter was their lunches together in the TT dining room at the old school. The joy of community, fellowship, eating, singing and praying together. The fellowship from these occasions has obviously stayed with them forever. If that experience worked for them we are sure it will work for the new generations of TT students as well.”
